Villa Pinède, Cap d’ Antibes

Juan-Les-Pins

The rise of the resort really started after the First World War with the arrival of the Americans. From a winter resort, it became a seaside resort in the 20’s: promotor Edouard Baudoin bought the Casino, wonderfully renovated it and opened it in spring 1924, in the presence of the intellectual and artistic elite of the time. Among the guests was Franck Jay Gould, a rich American heir, on holiday in the region. He fell in love with Juan-les-Pins, and decided to invest in the resort. It was the birth of Le Provençal. At the same time, Gerald and Sara Murphy, American patrons, decided to spend the summer in Cap d’Antibes and in tune with their lifestyle surrounded themselves with the famous artists and writers of the time (Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, John Dos Passos…).

In the 1930s, the Antibes region and, more specifically. Juan-Les-Pins was regarded as a bolthole for the international Jet-Set. Casinos, Nightclubs and white beaches stretching as far as you could see.

Some 80 years later, and whilst the former lodgings of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the castle of La Croë, has like many Regency buildings, fallen to the Oligarchs, Juan-Les-Pins has retained much of its charm.

The Cap D’Antibes

The Cap d’Antibes is a peninsula of the town of Antibes, located between Cannes and Nice, in the Alpes Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. It attracts every year many tourists who come to enjoy this holiday resort and hike.

Facing the Mediterranean Sea, Cap Antibes looks wild. Cliffs and creeks border the peninsula of Cap d’Antibes. While strolling in the picturesque alleys of Cap d’Antibes, you will appreciate its charm with its pines and beautiful villas such as the villa Sous Le Vent, the castle of La Croë…

Property of the “Conservatoire du littoral”, classified as a Natura 2000 area, the Cap d’Antibes is home to various plant and animal species. This exceptional site really developed in the XIXth century. Well-to-do tourists built superb villas there. Since then, the Cap d’Antibes has become world-renowned and every year it attracts many visitors as well as personalities from the cinema and the arts.
