Chateau St Martin & Spa

Erected on the ruins of a Templar fortress dating back to the 12th century, Château Saint-Martin & Spa is nestled at the foot of the famous Baou des Blancs. It occupies a property of more than 14 hectares and offers breathtaking views of the azure waters of the Mediterranean as well as dazzling panoramas of the Southern Alps.

Opened in 1958, this exceptional house retains the old Commandery, the huge drawbridge gate and some ruined walls. The park that surrounds it has been landscaped by the famous garden designer, Jean Mus.

Pool, paths and terraces in terraces were created around multi-centenary olive trees. Perfectly integrated into its environment, the building has been restored by the famous contemporary architect Luc Svetchine.

Inside, the decoration, thought by the owner Maja Oetker, is in keeping with the spirit of the castle. Louis XV or Louis XVI chests of drawers, Aubusson and Gobelins tapestries, 18th century clocks, Persian and Turkish rugs: each piece of the castle is a journey back in time.

In the park, 6 private villas offer more privacy. Sumptuous, they are decorated like the rooms of the castle, Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture, Pierre Frey fabrics inspired by classical styles. Clinging to the Baou, on private and guarded land, they are the favorite haven of the stars.

Château Saint-Martin & Spa also offers a spa where Sisley treatments are cared for, in dugouts on the cliffs that open onto the horizon.

The 2 restaurants are led by the talented Chef Jean-Luc Lefrançois. In summer, we have lunch at the Olive Grove, in the shade of the park’s century-old olive trees and in the midst of delicious scents of roses. And in the evening, we enjoy the comfort of St. Martin where Jean-Luc Lefrançois re-adapts the great classics of French cuisine.
