Edward Marquis – The Founder

Edward is the Founder and Director of the company and is based in the south of France. Edward has inspected every property that is featured in France and Italy, and looks after the management of the properties in the south of France.

Edward was born in Edinburgh and spent his early years in Scotland. He graduated in Russian and History from London University and went on to do a post graduate course in Book and Magazine production, and Business Management at the London College of Printing. His first appointment was as Export Manager for India for Penguin Books and he later moved on to become Asia sales manager, and set up the Penguin Books office in Hong Kong. During his 5 years at Penguin Edward visited most bookshops and universities between Istanbul and Tokyo.

The allure of travel got into his blood. He started his career in travel in conference, trade fair and event management, later moving into retail and leisure travel. He was one of the pioneers of the luxury villa rental market, initially contracting some of the first villas with pools in Tuscany over 30 years ago. He has worked for luxury villa rental companies in the USA, in the UK and in France, and has been involved in the luxury villa and concierge business in St Tropez for over 25 years.

Edward is a keen photographer and has taken many of the villa shots on this website. He is an ardent cricket follower, is an MCC member and has played at Lord’s himself. When he is not looking after clients, or inspecting new villas and destinations, he is probably at his happiest in one of the stands at Lord’s or having grilled fish and a bottle of local Rosé wine at one of St Tropez’s famous beach bars.

Annie Kalogirou – The French Riviera Partner

Annie brings a wealth of international experience to the L’e Marquis team. Her passion for communication and service has determined her personality.

A graduate of the Ithaca College of New York with MSc in Corporate Communication and Public Relations, she has enhanced her knowledge as a communication manager for several major corporations over a twenty year career. She has also been responsible for large budgets, for corporate and personal events, and for guest relations in international hotels.

Since moving from Athens to Cannes in 2012, she has focused on private and business events, as well as providing concierge services to luxury villas. She is fluent in English, French and Greek. She carries out the most demanding projects in the most effective and creative way. She is a true professional.

Alistair Delves – The Second Brain

Alistair acts as a consultant to the company. With the lines between luxury travel and luxury lifestyle becoming increasingly blurred, Alistair’s imagination and breadth of knowledge of different industries bring real strength to the L’e Marquis proposition, as well as to the management team.

Alistair was born in London, but spent his school years in Singapore and Vietnam, so encountered travel and different cultures at an early age. After graduating from the universities of Southampton and Brussels he gained invaluable management experience at Young & Rubicam and at Ogilvy London before starting Your2ndBrain Consultancy. At Young & Rubicam he managed the Jamaica Tourist Board business for a decade and also the fashion house, Browns of South Moulton street.

Alistair has been supporting senior management in a variety of organisations as an additional strategic resource for the last 25 years. He has worked in a variety of organisations from global businesses to start ups, and from governments to charities: Diageo Fine Wines, Ogilvy Poland, New York Life, the Brand Union, Reuters, COI, Euro RSG Skybridge, Alajou Trading Company, Prudential Asia, JWT as well as younger companies such as Four Points Consulting, J Bird & Company and Giant Games.

With a background in communication Alistair’s role is part sounding board, part facilitator and part catalyst as he provides a fresh perspective that enables management to continue to drive the longer term strategic agendas.

When he has time, Alistair can often be found  in his studio working on a series of abstract paintings, that are all about energy for his next exhibitions.

Rajeev Shaunak – The Financial Adviser

L’e Marquis is advised by Rajeev, a partner at MHA MacIntyre Hudson, one of the leading travel specialist accounting firms in Europe. All the company bookkeeping and accounting is handled by his office in New Bridge Street in London.

Rajeev has over 15 years experience working with a varied portfolio of clients, especially in the healthcare and travel sectors. In addition to audit, accounting and tax issues, Rajeev has considerable experience in giving general business advice including advising on AIM flotations, systems reviews, preparing specialist reports and advising on regulatory compliance.
He is a member of the firm’s Business Strategy Group and enjoys advising on a variety of matters affecting businesses from audit and accounting issues to budgeting and strategic planning: he puts an emphasis on planning for growth and profitability.

Jacqueline Benoist  –  The Provence Partner

Jacqueline has inspected all the properties and hotels in Provence on this website. She has eaten and drunk in every restaurant and bar, she has tasted wine in every vineyard. She loves champagne, good food and wine. She will go out of her way to make sure her clients have the best holiday ever.

Her mission is very simple: she will make every effort to provide each L’e Marquis client with the highest level of service. Her core value is her commitment to excellence. Anticipating and meeting the needs of her guests is her guiding principle.

Jacqueline was born in Marseille, studied in Aix-en-Provence and loves her region. Her mother was from Provence, her father was a Napolitan: she speaks French, English and Italian fluently. In her youth she was a beautiful model, and she was a dancer until she was 40. She has degrees in Marketing and Philosophy. In her early years in Paris she worked in PR for various international companies, including Chateau Margaux: she began to become involved in the world of luxury properties, fine wines and 5*restaurants.

George Seatter – The Insurance Enforcer

George plays a vital role at L’e Marquis by ensuring that every property the company handles is fully ensured against any eventuality.  George has been one of the UK’s leading private client insurance brokers for the past 15 years. He started with student specialist Endsleigh before joining Stackhouse Poland (SP) in 2002 to help them develop their national relationship with the wealth management company, St James Place.
George then created Green Park Insurance Services (GPIS) as a joint venture between SP and Mayfair based Alexander Associates Group in London. GPIS rapidly became on of the market leaders in providing tailored insurance – essentially a single policy covering household, motor and travel insurance, and, where applicable, yacht and private aviation.
This business was sold in September 2015 and George joined SPF Private Clients. SPF, (formerly Savills Private Finance), is one of the UK’s leading financial services companies, and George is currently working with them to develop their private client insurance business.

Q is everywhere. Q has inspected your property, Q will welcome you at your property, Q will come home with you if you love him. You may see him on the back of the  shirts worn by our maids and chefs. You may spot him on one of his special ibo-Maraca Panama hats. You will get him if you buy a Bomber jacket.

And Q created the Bearmiles loyalty  programme. But these Bears are not stupid, they were not born yesterday: they are numbered limited edition Bears. They are a protected species.
